Rock radio station 99.5 KISS extended a hand to local music this week, unveiling an extension of their popular program Texas Traxx, a midnight broadcast airing every Monday that highlights local and national rock from Texas. In addition to the weekly broadcast, jock Randy Bonillas and KISS will host a live version of Texas Traxx every Sunday night, featuring three bands from across Texas at the newly opened Scout Bar.

Texas metal maniacs Lokey rocked the Scout stage with Before the Bloodshed at Sunday’s inaugural show, raising the decibel level and the bar for local acts that’ll soon follow. The turnout was good and rock scenesters filled the crowd — many wanted to hear Lokey try out the new sound system that nationals will be playing on in the coming weeks. $2 Coronas and $2.50 Jäger (best price I’ve ever seen!) will be the Sunday drink specials.

Bonillas has always done an exemplary job of promoting local music on the mainstream airwaves, evidenced by the rabid fanbase his Monday broadcast enjoys. The live Sunday shows are also sure to attract eager locals, and any bands interested in performing should contact Bonillas at (210) 615-5079.
