The Sound & The Fury

If you still haven’t made plans for New Year’s Eve and are beginning to freak out, there’s hope: The father-son jazz team of George (bass) and Aaron Prado (piano, back from NY) will be alternating sets with the Hank Harrison Trio at the Boardwalk Bistro (4011 Broadway, 5 p.m.-1 a.m.; reservations at (210) 824-0100). Also, Bett Butler and Joël Dilley’s Art of the Duet will be at Biga on the Banks (203 S St. Mary’s, (210) 225-0722, 6:30 pm, $100 per person includes “five-course meal, party favors, and a champagne toast”). I know — I can’t afford it, either. If jazz is too refined for your taste, try Tennessee’s 10 Years, who present their second album (Division) at the Scout Bar (19314 281 North, Suite 110, $20 in advance at (888) 512-SHOW), with Canada’s the Veer Union. Have fun and a wonderful 2010. — Enrique Lopetegui.
