The Sound & The Fury

The R House is the latest venue to go under, albeit temporarily. For the time being, all shows scheduled at R House are moved to the Quarry Cantina (7310 Jones Maltsberger, (210) 290-8066), which started 2010 with a bang: rock Mondays and blues Wednesdays (check out W.C. Clark, 9:30 p.m. January 27, $10). Until their rebirth — and while they work on a new venue designed specifically for live music — R House will take over the QC Wednesday and Saturday nights.

In addition to the January 25 SOLI Chamber Ensemble concert for Haiti at Trinity University (see calendar, page 31), there is another concert to benefit the troubled nation in San Antonio. Bandera’s Bella Fool, which covers hits from the ’70s to the present, will perform 10 p.m., Thursday, January 21, at the Bandera Bowl (6700 Huebner Road, $10, free bowling from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.). The show benefits the Pan American Development Foundation’s Heal Haiti relief fund (panamericanrelief.org).

Scott Miller, founding member of Tennessee roots-rock/alternative-country greats The V-Roys will perform at Sam’s Burger Joint 8 p.m.Wednesday, January 20 (30 E. Grayson, (210) 223-2830, samsburgerjoint.com, $7-$10). Miller will be presenting his new album, For Crying Out Loud. –Enrique Lopetegui.
