The University of Texas at San Antonio Music Department and Musicians of Business (MOB) will host their first "Music Biz Day", free and open to the public, on Tuesday, April 26 from 1 to 6:15 p.m. The event will be located on the 1604 campus in the UTSA recital hall.

Billed as "a small expo presenting panels on the Show Business, Music Retail, Music Blogging and Marketing, Nonprofits and Advocacy, Recording and Broadcasting, and Creative Programming," the event will provide an excellent opportunity for those with an interest in breaking into the biz to get some inside knowledge.

The panel discussion will feature about 30 top music industry professionals from the greater San Antonio and Austin area. Each panel will be moderated by either a UTSA student or Faculty member. Contributors will share their experiences and knowledge on the industry’s trends, promote their business, network and engage with students.

Some notable artists and companies featured will include Country Music Awards winner Jack Ingram, Live Nation, Disney, Grammy U, Do210, Puro Pinche, Maverick Festival, RBC Music, Sound Madness, Academy of, VMB Music Group, Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, YOSA, Cleanbill Music, KRTU, Dead Room Studio, San Antonio Strad, Imagine Books and Records, Azteca Records, Why Not? Entertainment, Arts San Antonio, Cactus Pear Music Festival, Anthem School of Music, Orb Studio, Alamo Music, Dobbs Stanford, Texas Commission on the Arts, Texas Music Office, Bexar County, American Federation of Musicians and more.

Again, the event is free and open to all interested. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of each panel discussion, and, with a panel such as the one listed above, there should be plenty of information for those hungry to get in the music business game.
