	Q: What do you get when you add spray paint, scaffolding, and hip-hop? A: The Urban Arts Fest at 211 San Pedro.

You know the building. Downtown on San Pedro. Near the I-35 underpass. There are some serene aquatic scenes on one side and the rest of the walls are covered in graffiti - not illegible tags and hasty scribbles, but legitimate art. Well, it turns out that some nice neighborhood boys live in that building at 211 San Pedro, and they are throwing a little Urban Arts Fest on Saturday, July 12.

The all-day affair is free for all ages, and will feature hosts and resident DJs (haha resident) and MCs the Beatards - Wes151, DJ M, Mobius, and Daecos - as well as performances by Scuba Gooding Sr., Krionix, DJ Tech-Neek, and DJ Vicious.

There won't be any face painting for the kiddies, but there will be live art by local graffiti artists Shek, Toby, Cien63, Loser, Nemo, Soup, Apryl Fysh, Prae, and Supher. Rumor has it that Soup (whose work is visible in mural form on the

Sin 13 building at Ashby and McCullough) will be bringing a homemade wall for the occasion. Whether the artists will collaborate on a single piece or work individually remains to be seen, but at least they will be painting to a bumpin' soundtrack.

The festivities begin at noon, and will continue until 10 p.m. The parking lot party is a little taste of what's to come at the third annual Clogged Caps festival July 18-20, and a swell way to spend a Saturday. •
