Alamo City Comic Con and Alamo City Art Jam are co-hosting a one-day Star Wars art exhibition, featuring works from a number of Star Wars artists who have created pieces for the films and Expanded Universe books and products. Among them is including iconic movie poster illustrator Drew Struzan, designer of the official Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster. Struzen also designed the theatrical posters for the Star Wars original trilogy special edition release in 1997, as well as the posters for the prequel trilogy, which were better than the movies if we're honest. The exhibit will also showcase works from Stephan Martiniere, Tommy Lee Edwards, Jason Palmer and SA's John Picacio, and others. Free, 12pm-7pm, Sat., Dec. 12, Educational & Cultural Arts Center,101 S Santa Rosa St., facebook.com

Lone Star Wars: A Renewed Hope Art Extravaganza is hosting a Star Wars art exhibit featuring large-scale tribute works by Scotch Willington, David Blancas and other artists and muralists. The event will also feature cosplayers, photo-ops and more. The exhibit will travel to a number of Star Wars events throughout the month, including Star Wars: the Force Awakens opening weekend at City Base Cinema. The film-inspired artwork is available for purchase after the tour. Free, 1pm - 8pm, Sat., Dec. 12, The Paintyard, 525 San Pedro Ave, facebook.com

Sunday, December 13
San Antonio Wookie Walk

Usually held in May to commemorate Star Wars Day, this year's San Antonio Wookie Walk was moved to December 13 to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And it's probably for the best because that wooly, heavy Chewbacca costume is probably a lot more comfortable in December than it is in the hot and humid late San Antonio spring. But it will also probably be too chilly to wear your gold Princess Leia bikini. Nevertheless, hundreds of Star Wars fans will dress up as their favorite character and march through Downtown, proving that the force that is Star Wars fandom is stronger than ever. Free, 4pm to 11pm, Sun., Dec. 13, Tower of the Americas, 739 E. Cesar Chavez, facebook.com.

Star Wars Saga Marathon

The Ewoks were the best part.
The Santikos Palladium IMAX is hosting a marathon screening of the entire Star Wars film saga, beginning at 4 a.m. with The Phantom Menace and ending with a 7 p.m. screening of The Force Awakens. For some strange, inexplicable reason 1984's Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and 1985's Ewoks: The Battle for Endor are not part of the screening. Neither is the famed Star Wars Holiday Special. That marathon is totally sold-out, but maybe you can use your Jedi mind tricks and convince someone to give you their tickets.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Opening Night

Oh, hey. There's a new Star Wars film opening in theaters. It looks awesome, but all the Thursday night screenings are sold-out, because people really, really like Star Wars. Here's a link to Star Wars: The Force Awakens screenings at SA's Alamo Drafthouse locations this month. And here is a link to Santikos Theatres screenings. Santikos Theatres is hosting a costume contest beginning December 17 and ending December 20. Here are the details.
