A call for Katrina survivors from Jump-Start

Uprooted: The Katrina Project will be at Jump-Start Performance Co. March 30 & 31 at 8:00 p.m. Uprooted explores Gulf Coast artists’ responses to the disaster and their efforts to reconstruct their lives and communities. This piece is being offered to those who have displaced people in their communities and/or people who are concerned that the conditions that lead to the Katrina disaster may very well be brewing in their communities and wish therefore to encourage dialogue about what should be done to avoid similar results.

From March 25th thru March 31st, an ensemble of a dozen displaced actors, poets, dancers and musicians from the Gulf Coast will be in San Antonio for a week-long residency hosted by Jump-Start. Under the guidance of John O’Neal, Artistic Director of New Orleans’ Junebug Productions, they will conduct multi-disciplinary workshops with local artists and community members, including Katrina survivors who have relocated to San Antonio. Jump-Start invites any displaced persons to call and find out more about the performances and to come see the show. Please call (210) 227-5867.
