Mexico. Of course it was Mexico.

Authorities detained Ethan Couch and his mother Tanya Couch Monday in the resort city of Puerto Vallarta. CBS News reports that immigration authorities approached the Couch's, who couldn't prove they were in Mexico legally. So they'll be deported to the U.S., where Ethan Couch is in hot water for ditching probation.

Typically, a teenager screwing up his probation isn't newsworthy. However, Ethan Couch killed four people while driving drunk. Outrageously, a judge accepted his lawyer's "affluenza" defense. Basically, Couch was so rich, and his parents so dysfunctional, that he was unable to know the difference between right and wrong.

Authorities have been searching for Ethan Couch — and his mom Tanya Couch — for the past few weeks. Ethan Couch disappeared after a video showed him playing beer pong and appearing to drink alcohol, a violation of his 10-year probation.

A Dallas attorney says in that CBS article that the state would have to prove it is Ethan Couch in that video and that video was taken during the probation term. Sure, that's all good and fine, but seems like a not-so-important point now that, well, you know, Ethan Couch ditched probation and the fled the country with his mother.

It's not clear whether Tanya Couch will face charges, but if she does, look out for the "affluenza" defense. Maybe it's genetic.
