On each of five consecutive Friday evenings in July and August, nationally acclaimed jazz artists, free admission, and music under the starry sky lures more than 4,000 jazz fans onto the grass-covered amphitheatre at Crossroads Mall for this South Texas tradition. Jazz vocalist Slim Man opens the series with Friday night’s performance; he’s received significant radio airplay and recognition in the U.S. and around the world, his style called “a near perfect example of how jazz and soul can be combined as pop” by Rolling Stone.
