Former 18 Visions singer James Hart has a new band and the guitar-driven vibe smolders with an energy that recalls the pop-metal heyday of the ’80s, yet with a modern-rock sound that leaves that annoying big reverb on the drums behind.

Lead single “Dirty Little Girl” features guitarist Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold in a cock-rock throwback that recalls Mötley Crüe, LA Guns, Dokken, etc. Other guests include Nickelback drummer Daniel Adair and former Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney.

“Save Me” offers a more romantic and melodic vibe, while still retaining an edge. “Too Late to Tell You Now” and “Saloon Song” build more slowly, layering the guitars in classic-rock fashion, and recalling bands from Aerosmith to Cinderella. “Anejo” and “Dead End Roads and Lost Highways” put the burn in Burn Halo with molten riffage, making this an album likely to appeal to the Guitar Hero crowd. Hart has a powerful voice and wide range that will be on display February 11 when Burn Halo plays at the White Rabbit with Escape the Fate and Black Tide.
