Donald Trump will tour the U.S.-Mexico border today.

The circus is coming to town, South Texas.

Republican presidential candidate and one-man sideshow Donald Trump will visit Laredo today to meet with U.S. border patrol agents. He announced the trip on Twitter, saying that he “will be seeing some really brave people”:

This morning, Trump retweeted supporters wishing him safe travels for his journey. Maybe they’re concerned about the rapists and criminals coming across the border, as Trump described Mexican immigrants in announcing his presidential campaign.

Trump’s trip will surely give more fodder to his main foil over the past few weeks: Rick Perry, Trump’s fellow GOP presidential candidate and the longest-serving governor of Texas.

Perry has hammered Trump since the real estate mogul entered the race. Yesterday, Perry delivered a few sharp-if-absurd barbs toward Trump in a campaign speech. Vox collected some of the best ones, including:

"He offers a barking carnival act that can be best described as Trumpism: a toxic mix of demagoguery, mean-spiritedness and nonsense that will lead the Republican Party to perdition if pursued."

"My fellow Republicans, beware of false prophets. Do not let itching ears be tickled by messengers who appeal to anger, division and resentment."

"Donald Trump’s candidacy is a cancer on conservatism, and it must be clearly diagnosed, excised and discarded."

And a visit by Trump to Perry’s home state is sure to bring us more of this high-level discourse we’ve come to expect from the race for our nation’s highest elected office. Can’t wait.
