Can You Guess What Texans Buy The Most on eBay?

Purely for your entertainment, eBay has released data that outlines the best-selling products of each individual U.S. state. It is even accompanied with a convenient map with little pictures of said items because this is America and we are too lazy to read too many words.

Some of the top-sellers are pretty obvious. For example, Californians are buying “high-end women’s apparel and accessories” (because everyone there is fabulous and better-dressed than you, people) and Alaskans are buying hats. I can only imagine these are all fleece-lined trapper hats with ear flaps because Alaska is all mountains and bears and snow, right?

On the other hand, some states are buying a lot of odd items like Wyoming and its apparent love of art supplies or Connecticut and its affinity for batteries. Down south things get stranger, as is evident in Mississippi’s need for mattresses. Are there not enough mattress suppliers in the Magnolia State, or do its residents just prefer something a little more worn-in? In Louisiana, they favor collector’s items over anything else, and I firmly believe this to be true considering the amount of tchotchkes present in the homes of my relatives.

Then we get to Texas. According to eBay, here in Texas we’re buying copious amounts of “tactical and hunting goods.” Yeah, you bet your ass we are. We’re suspicious of the government, hence the need for tactical weapons just in case, and with so much state comes so many animals to be hunted. Us Texans like to hunt and prepare our own meats, because we can basically do anything and don’t need anyone else’s help, thank you very much. Also, it’s interesting to note that New York’s highest selling item is firearms. Compared to our tactical and hunting goods, an abundance of straight-up firearms just seems dangerous. Who’s scary now?
