Bio: Ray Lopez, a retired from AT&T marketing director, held a spot on the Northside ISD board before being elected to council in 2009. While he’s gained a long list of endorsements, Lopez drew fire this year when emails surfaced showing he suggested his private IT firm, REV Enterprises, do business with WellMed in 2009, just as the group was looking to set up a senior center in the councilman’s district. An ethics complaint against Lopez was never filed with the city.

Bio: Steve Shamblen founded the local chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) in 2000 and ran it until 2005. Shamblen holds degrees in aircraft maintenance, electronics and drafting and design. Shamblen, who is unemployed and disabled, has said he wants to build an after-school youth center in D6.
