This weekend, seven floor-to-ceiling masterpieces will be created expressly for the Clogged Caps International Aerosol Arts Festival. Under the guidance of the local chapter of the LAWS Crew, Clogged Caps turns SA into a spray-happy “hip-hop epicenter.” On Friday, get acquainted with visiting aerosol stars from California, New York, and points in between when Tucker’s hosts a meet-and-greet soundtracked by L.A.JAE, 2Mex, Clemits & Mesanger, Dance Like Robots, OBX, DJ Tech-Neek, and pRestO. From dusk ’till dawn on Saturday and Sunday, watch such crews as SLUTS, Wall Rocks, and CREATURES, and more than 80 individual artists — including the talents of Fart, Soup, Loser, Skeez, Supher, Sloth, Gomer, and Rime Chunk — develop massive murals at the Yard (529 San Pedro), the White Rabbit (2410 N St. Mary’s), Revolution Room (8123 Broadway), City Tire and Wheels (425 San Pedro), the Pedicab Bar & Grill (415 E Cevallos), Southwest Workers Union (1416 E Commerce at Mesquite), and the Pepsi Wall (aka the Wall of Fame at San Pedro and IH-35), where reps from Artpace up the ante with a designated kids’ corner. Things get loud on Saturday night, when Tuwayne (Denver, Colo.), Parrish (Santa Fe, N.M.), Candy’s .22 (Los Angeles, Calif.), Qwel & Maker (Chicago, Ill.), and R.A. the Rugged Man (from “parts unknown, New York”) bomb Rev Room’s bass with the added bonus of 2 on 2 BBoy Battles. Rounding out the final day, DJs Terpsi, Daecos, Epsr, and others keep the parties going as artists spray on the final touches before heading to Limelight for the closing night festivities — featuring Austin’s Beta Player, LA’s Rakaa Iriscience & DJ Babu, and SA’s own SELF, Cros, and DJ JT Moneez. Fri, Mar 11: $5, 10pm-2am, Tucker’s Kozy Korner, 1338 E Houston. Visit any of the mural sites mentioned above (free!) all day Sat, Mar 12 and Sun, Mar 13. Sat, Mar 12: $10, 8pm-2am, Revolution Room, 8123 Broadway. Sun, Mar 13: $10, 10pm-2am, Limelight, 2718 N St. Mary’s. For details and a map of participating venues, visit cloggedcaps.com/info.html.
