Expect Crappy Traffic When Part of I-35 Shuts Down this Weekend

Beginning at 9 p.m.* Friday, I-35 near NE Loop 410 will be shut down for four days due to the demolition of an old bridge.

All lanes between Rittiman Road and George beach will be closed until 5 a.m. Monday, with the exception of 6-11 p.m. Saturday when traffic lanes will reopen for the Spurs vs. LA Clippers game. TxDOT spokesman Josh Donat says that all traffic will cut down to one lane, which means you're going to want to avoid I-35 at all costs this weekend.

Drivers heading north on I-35 will be directed to the northbound 4-10 exit to turn around at Binz-Engleman Road and continue on 4-10 before getting back on 35. The bridge will be demolished in order to relocate the exit ramp from the left side of the road to the right to prevent traffic congestion and crashes.

Though we appreciate the work TxDOT is doing to make the I-35 corridor safer, we suggest you find a different route this weekend and save yourself a major headache.
