All right, so it isn't the most glamorous place to chow down. But inside the retro-façade, the men inside Burger Boy churn out the damn tastiest burgers in San Antonio. They aren't particularly thick, or enormously big, but there is a world of flavor in each mouthful: a potent beefiness that the likes of McDonald's have made us all forget. Complementing the old-fashioned burger are french fries that look like they came out of your childhood cafeteria, but these Ore-Ida knockoffs are crunchy, salty, and guiltily addictive.

Non-corporate drive-thru burger joints nowadays are a rarity: The primordial ancestors of our fast food obsession, they make their last stands in forgotten parts of town. A dying breed, joints like Burger Boy won't be around much longer. So, as your food-as-history lesson for the day, bite into that juicy patty, topped with Americana. Swish it down with a swirl of sweet Coke, and remember the way the world used to be: when grabbing a burger on the go was part of the American Dream, a testament to individual freedom, national prosperity, and caloric innocence.
