Remember how we told you State Rep. Justin Rodriguez's swearing in as replacement for the late Paul Elizondo on Bexar County Commissioners Court would likely trigger a special election?

Well, it's happening.

Gov. Greg Abbott today proclaimed a special election for Tuesday, February 12 to fill the District 125 seat Rodriguez is vacating. Interested candidates must file with the Texas Secretary of State by the end of Monday, January 14.

No doubt, the quick timeline is to allow the four-term Democrat's replacement to join in the fun as the Texas Lege wrestles with how to simultaneously cut property taxes while flowing more money into public schools.

Gosh, who wouldn't want to parachute right into that?
