Formed in the San Francisco bay area in 1976 by a singing drummer named Damon Edge, Chrome’s sound was completed with a guitar-torturing maniac named Helios Creed. The band recorded a series of LPs during the new wave/post-punk explosion that explore the dark state of mind only hinted at by ’60s psychedelia, and this material carries the sonic intensity they’re remembered for. Following Chrome’s dissolution in 1983, the two launched solo careers and Creed picked up the name after Edge’s death in 1995. Free, 11pm, The Mix, 2423 N. St. Mary’s St., (210) 735-1313.
