Hotel Indigo's Commitment to Customer Service is as Great as One Guest's Love for Nicolas Cage

Any hotel concierge can regale you with stories about their quirky guests. More often than not, travelers turn out to be a total freakshow, but great hotels have the mantra that employees must go out of their way to create a satisfying and memorable lodging experience. Well, consider Hotel Indigo as one of downtown San Antonio's great places to stay. 

A series of text messages screenshots and photos were posted on Imgur by user FreePsychicReadings this week that documented Hotel Indigo's commitment to satisfying their guests' every need. The guest received a message from the hotel's text messaging service after check-in. What began a polite customer service experience ended in a majestic, over-the-top saga involving Hollywood megastar and "National Treasure" Nicolas Cage. We'll let the guest explain:

I got this text when I checked into the Hotel Indigo San Antonio Riverwalk basically letting me know if I needed anything, I just needed to ask. For shits and giggles during my boring work conference, I asked for a framed picture of Nic Cage in Con Air. When I got an affirmative response, I thought it was auto generated and went about my day.


While any normal person would've backed out of the room slowly, Hotel Indigo Front Office Manager Ramon Rangel followed through by having a framed photo of Cage in all his Con Air majesty sent to the room. The guest claimed to be "punched right in the giggle dick" upon seeing the framed photo resting on the pillow, like a tiny chocolate, only a million times better. 


The Nic Cage requests didn't end there. The guest continued to ask for photos of the actor just to see how far Hotel Indigo would go. A request was made to tape a photo of Cage from the movie Moonstruck on the bathroom mirror. When the photo wasn't sent, the guest requested the photo be sent to the room along with a fresh supply of bath towels, and Hotel Indigo followed through, attaching a brief note of apology. Look at how beautiful it is! All bath towels should be sent up with a photo of Nicolas Cage.


The customer went on to request a photo of Cage in the thriller 8mm, and Hotel Indigo complied. 

In a conversation with the Current, Rangel remarked that this was not the weirdest request he's had from a guest, "but it was definitely fun." He confirmed the requests were made two weeks ago, and reiterated the establishment's commitment to customer service, nothing they are willing to fulfill any request that is within their capabilities. Rangel said they sent up the framed photo "almost immediately." You might even say they sent the photo up to the room and were Gone in 60 Seconds
