I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since Sarah Koenig left us all debating whether Adnan Syed had actually killed his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, or whether Jay was completely innocent, or why Syed’s attorney was so awful, or how shoddy cell records could possibly have been admissible in court?
None of that matters now, because "Serial" is back and we can all go back to saying “Mail Kimp” and feeling slightly creeped out by that intro/outro jingle. It's a Christmas miracle for the "Serial"-obsessed.
This time, as reported in late September, the featured case that will be dissected by Koenig and her producers has a huge San Antonio tie. It follows the case of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl who went missing in Afghanistan in 2009 and was captured by the Taliban for five years.
Bergdahl is the subject of a preliminary hearing in San Antonio to see if he should be court-martialed. He's accused of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.
The first episode “DUSTWUN” is available now; new episodes will be released Thursday morning.
