San Antonio Named Third Proudest City in America

The city of San Antonio is guilty of committing one of the seven deadly sins, and believe it or not, it's not gluttony. The novelty real estate blog Movato has named the Alamo City the third proudest city in the nation.

So, yay for us, or whatever! Now the blog didn't detail just how they went about measuring city pride, but we think it's safe to say that they didn't take into consideration our high levels of poverty, low rages or teen pregnancy rates.

This city does have things to be proud about, however. Our NBA team was at the White House today for winning things and being awesome. Our boy Julián Castro is all grown up now over at the Department of Housing and Urban and Development. The city's culinary scene has been coming into its own the past few years and receiving international attention and praise. Same goes for the classic cocktail scene. Fiesta's pretty dope (in small doses, unless you really like Fiesta). The River and Museum Reaches are worth frequenting as our some of our parks.

So why does Movato think we are so proud?

San Antonio is the biggest city to hit our top 10 list—the seventh largest by population in the U.S.—which says a lot for its appeal. (New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, and Phoenix… sorry if you’re jealous.)

And why wouldn’t San Antonians be proud? The town has its Fiesta San Antonio party every year; its River Walk offers lots of things to do and a gorgeous view; and the 750-foot-tall Tower of the Americas lets locals see for miles and miles. Oh, and let’s not forget a little landmark called The Alamo.

Yes, there are myriad reasons for San Antonio’s place in our rankings, and why it has the nickname “Something To Remember.”

Wait. What? Our nickname is "Something to Remember?" We share a nickname with a mid-90's Madonna album. When did that happen? It appears to be a forgettable promotional tagline once used to attract tourist, but nickname? No.

In case you were wondering, the cities that beat out San Antonio for the most proud city in the nation were Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. We won't argue with it, we're just happy to have another meaningless real estate blog ranking to be proud of.
