Dust off your running shoes and start training now. Two of my favorite nonprofits are having 5K Walk/Run fundraisers.
March 24th: Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) is racing around the beautiful Alamo Heights neighborhood in the Beethoven 5K/10K. The brochure says its suitable for all levels of runners (or walkers). And, for extras, YOSA musicians will be playing--you guessed it--Beethoven classics at water stations along the route. Cool!

April 21st: The 5th annual Providence to Pearl 5K Walk/Run weaves along one of the most beautiful spots in San Antonio--the Riverwalk Museum Reach--which coincidentally is right across the street from Providence Catholic School.
“The P2P annual 5K has been a great event in the past and we expect even more participants this year. There's always a huge turnout of Providence students, teachers, families and friends who all understand the importance of being healthy and fit," Athletic Director Elise Denoux said. "We encourage San Antonio runners and walkers, of all levels and all ages, to join us."

The finish line at Pearl will offer an Expo, entertainment and the Saturday
Pearl Farmers Market for your after race enjoyment. Proceeds will benefit Providence Catholic School which this year is celebrating 60 years of educating young women in San Antonio.

San Antonio activist and nonprofit veteran Laura Carter believes in enabling the community to work from the heart, not just the wallet. During her time at the San Antonio Area Foundation, Laura implemented new technology, managing website design and content for all published materials. She introduced multimedia and social media into the communications plan, increasing the community's participation in the Foundation's programs. She is now Communications Director at Providence Catholic School.
