A vigil for victims of last night's shooting at an Orlando nightclub will take place Sunday, June 12 at 7 p.m. at Crockett Park (1300 N. Maine Ave.).
At 8 p.m., there will be a march from the park to the intersection of Main Avenue and Evergeen Street for a rally "to demonstrate that our LGBTQ spirit is resilient and will not be diminished by any acts of hate or terrorism," according to event's
Facebook page.
The shooting at Pulse Nightclub killed at least
50 people and injured 53 more, making it the worst terror attack since 9/11, and the deadliest attack ever aimed at the gay community.
The attacker was identified as Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old Florida man who was killed by law enforcement early Sunday morning. The
San Antonio Current's sister paper, the
Orlando Weekly, has regular updates on the situation.
Texans and people across the globe expressed grief and support for those affected by the attack. For more information about the vigil, check the event's
Facebook page.
