Now through Friday, March 9, the city's Municipal Court will allow residents with warrants for Class C misdemeanors (including traffic and city ordinance violations) to pay the fine without being arrested for failure to appear, according to KSAT. Payment options include online, by mail or in person at the Municipal Courthouse (free parking will be available during the campaign.
KSAT reports that the enforcement period will begin Monday, March 5, when SAPD will attempt to track down those with warrants to transport them to the Municipal Courthouse to speak with a judge. Department volunteers will also be calling residents to remind them of their warrant and explain how to resolve it.
Those with a warrant will still have the option to speak to a judge and court staff (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. as well as Saturday, March 3 only, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.), as well as request a trial, though that is based on individual cases.
