The San Antonio Express-News reports that victims’ family members have questioned how the church has been handling its newfound $2.91 million since April, with many calling on Pastor Frank Pomeroy and Pat Dziuk, who is in charge of donation distribution, to share how much of the money has been spent.
"We just want to know how much, give us the amount, and then we want to know how much is left," Lisa McNulty told the Express-News. "It's simple, simple math."
Concerns rose after Pomeroy revealed a plan to build a $3 million dollar worship facility to replace the building where the tragedy occurred. Pomeroy, whose 14-year-old daughter was killed during the massacre, claims that it would be too painful to worship in the building where so many lost their lives.
“We want to be a lighthouse,” Pomeroy told the Baptist Press. “The light of the gospel shines hope, even in the deepest darkness.”
