The first big comic book convention of the summer happens this weekend at Texas Comicon. During this three-day event, fans can meet celebrities, voice actors, and some of the biggest names in the comic book world.

Several celebrities – old and new – will be at the con. Fans of the Transformers movies can meet Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime, on Saturday. David Giuntoli (Detective Nick Burkhardt) and Bitsie Tulloch (Juliette Silverton) from NBC’s Grimm will be there all weekend. Expect to see Jake “The Snake” Roberts, and even R2-D2.

Nostalgia will run high at Texas Comicon with all the voice actors from classic 1980’s cartoons attending. G.I. Joe’s Neil Ross (Shipwreck) and Michael Bell (Duke) will make appearances. Transformer’s Gregg Berger (Grimlock) and David Sobolov (Shockwave) will too. Fans will have a chance to finally meet Alan Oppenheimer, the voice of Skeletor, from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe on Saturday and Sunday.

No comic convention is complete without the chance to rub elbows with some of the comic book greats. Bob Budiansky, known for his work on the Transformers comic, is scheduled to attend. David Michael Beck, renowned for his work on Star Wars comic properties, will be there. Fans can also meet Val Mayerik, best known as the co-creator of Howard the Duck.

Brian Posehn, stand-up comedian and the writer for Marvel Now!’s Deadpool, will make a brief appearance on Friday.

With all the cons coming up this summer, it’s good to be a nerd in San Antonio
