Texas Game Wardens reported on Facebook that while patrolling the coastline between two beach access points north of the city of SPI, they spotted a heavy trail of footprints leading from the the surf into the dunes.
At first, the wardens found a few partially buried plastic-wrapped packages. Then, they found the rest of it: dozens of buried bundles of pot — weighing 946 pounds. The find is one of the agency's largest seizures yet in 2016.
Make no mistake. This is not buried treasure. The only people interested in 946 pounds of pot are cops and people you don't want to know.
Texas Game Wardens say they've increased their presence in the area because of the holiday and working with the United States Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection Marine Interdiction agents.
