We're looking to add a sharp, part-time news reporter to join the
Current's news team — known for its smart, in-depth and accessible journalism. Could that be you? We'd like to hire someone who can quickly find, pitch, and write news stories for our daily online coverage and weekly print edition, and doesn't need
too much direction to get it done right.
The job may send you to city hall meetings, protests, or press conferences — but most of your work will take place in the office. You should be familiar with local and state political/social issues and confident with general news-writing. Past reporting experience required (internships count!).
This person will report directly to our news editor and should be able to work 20 hours a week. We'll hash out your specific schedule later on.
To apply, please send a PDF of your resume, a brief cover letter, and up to five of your best writing samples to
[email protected].
