Transgender people in Texas can finally seal their old birth certificates and the state will issue new ones, the Dallas Voice reports.

Dallas attorney Katie Sprinkle told the paper the state started issuing the amended certificates last week.

As part of the historic Texas marriage equality ruling, San Antonio-based U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia ordered Texas' attorney general, Ken Paxton, and the Texas Bureau of Vital Statistics "to issue corrected death certificates for same-sex couples acknowledging their relationship as 'spouse' rather than significant other," the Dallas Voice story states.

The state was also required to update its policy for reissuing amended birth certificates to trans men and women, the paper reports.
