Looking for a way to give back this month? Help the South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless (SARAH) get the data they and other social services need to best serve the homeless in our community.

SARAH will conduct its annual point-in-time count on Thursday, January 21, and the organization needs plenty of volunteers.

Volunteers will walk or drive around a certain area of town with a small group, counting homeless persons and conducting surveys with them. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development mandates such a count every year, and the data collected helps San Antonio win federal dollars to help the homeless.

There are two available shifts: 6 to 9 p.m. and 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. Training will be provided before the count. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older. Click here to register and find more information, or call (210) 220-2382.
