Are you looking for the right tools and resources to help you achieve your healthiest weight? The YWM Healthy Living EXPO is a free weight and health event proudly brought to you by the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) in partnership with the YMCA of Greater San Antonio on Saturday, August 15 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter.The free EXPO, which is being hosted in conjunction with the 4th Annual Your Weight Matters National Convention, includes free health screenings from local health professionals, more than 35 vendors with free samples and giveaways for attendees and many other educational resources to help you manage your weight and health effectively.
“Today, it is estimated that more than 28 percent of Texans are impacted by obesity,” said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO. “With that in mind, the OAC recognized an inherent need to provide Texans with evidence-based information on weight, health and much more. We’re very excited to give back to the city of San Antonio and offer free access to the EXPO.”
To fulfill this need, the OAC, a national nonprofit that works to provide advocacy, education and support for individuals affected by obesity, is partnering with the YMCA of Greater San Antonio to provide free-of-charge access to the YWM Healthy Living EXPO. In addition to all the great education and resources the EXPO provides individuals to manage weight and health, this is also a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who also care about their health.
Sandy Morander, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, said the EXPO provides positive messages about ways to achieve healthy weight and improve overall wellness. “The exhibitors at this event are focused on educating the public on the science and psychology of weight, to help our community make informed decisions that lead to better health outcomes,” added Morander.
Attendees are highly encouraged to register prior to arrival to guarantee that they’ll receive all of the on-site materials at the EXPO, such as EXPO information, free samples from EXPO hall vendors and more.
