ACL 2012 Day 2: Metric

Posted By on Sun, Oct 14, 2012 at 3:09 PM

One of the shows I was most excited about at ACL 2012 was Metric. The band recently put out one of their best albums, Synthetica, and it's been constantly in my stereo as was their prior release, Fantasies. I didn't think I could like them anymore until I saw them live. They absolutely blew ACL away that afternoon, playing a mix of their hits and songs from the new album.

Singer Emily Haines never stopped moving, dancing away as if she was on a constant cardio workout, but never missing a note and singing at the top of her game. They ended their set with a beautiful acoustic rendition of their hit "Gimme Sympathy", dedicating it to people who give their life to rock 'n' roll 'cause, as she said, "Why not?"
