Hi, my name is Bryan De La Garza (everyone calls me Brain) and I’m a photographer here in San Antonio. There are still a lot of photographers that shoot film, and I’m one them. I have always wanted to do a photoblog where only analog photographs were shown and can still be beautiful. For me, using film cameras is a process of slowing down and focusing on what is happening around me. So hopefully this little series will catch on and you will like the stories and photos that I post.

First Friday Acoustic Night at J &O’s Cantina, May 3rd, 2013

Tired of the same First Friday Blue Star thing, I was excited to hear of an acoustic show happening at J and O’s Cantina. I had never heard of or been to this place, so immediately I wanted to check it out. J and O’s is located at 1014 S. Presa Street next to Taco Haven. It’s a small bar with a max occupancy of 43, which made it a perfect location for an acoustic set. Plus, I wouldn’t be going to bed with ringing ears because I forgot my earplugs. Click here to see the full slideshow. The music was supposed to start at 10pm, and when I got there it hadn't quite started yet, but the bartender was playing tunes off of his Buddy Holly Pandora station. The free peanuts went well with my $2 Tecate. The lineup for the acoustic show was as follows: Lorita Drive, Carly Garza, Mikey Vibes (Deer Vibes), and Nick Long (Lonely Horse). I’m not much of a music critic by any means, but if you get a chance to hear any of these musicians perform please go because I think they represent what is happening currently in the music scene here and it’s a unique thing to witness. I didn’t get a chance to get a photo of Lorita Drive, my apologies on that, but I want to say that I took all these photos with a Polaroid Land Camera (Model 100) with Fuji 3000b black and white pack film. I hope they keep doing these acoustic sets on First Friday at J & O’s, and you can check out more of these artists here:
