The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is currently accepting written submissions to be considered for publication in the 33rd Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival program. Acceptable formats include short stories, poems, essays, interviews and scholarly articles, as long as they focus on some aspect of conjunto. According to festival founder and curator Juan Tejeda, the program is “an important educational source on conjunto music, as well as a promotional tool for the festival and the conjunto musicians performing at the festival.”

Texas Tornados

Among the 30-plus acts scheduled to perform this year is the “ultimate Tex-Mex super group” Texas Tornados, whose latest offering is 2010’s ¡Está Bueno! (read the Current’s review here). Surprisingly, this will be the Tornados’ debut performance at the festival, which is set for May 14 and 16-18 at Rosedale Park (340 Dartmouth).

Submissions should not exceed 1,200 words and can be emailed as an attachment directly to Tejeda ( through April 16. For details about TCF (including the full schedule), visit

A little creative inspiration, should the muse escape you.
