Sunday Night Sound Bite: Cazzette Spotlight

Posted By on Sun, May 4, 2014 at 10:21 PM

As they often do, Backstage Live is packing a wide range of touring acts into one week and—as you'll see when our new issue drops on Wednesday—we opted to highlight the "Ultimate '80s Tour," a guilty pleasure uniting diluted versions of Missing Persons, Bow Wow Wow and Gene Loves Jezebel. While aging alt-rockers Third Eye Blind ($22.50, 7pm Wednesday) speak for themselves, bright young Swedish outfit Cazzette (aka Sebastian Furrer and Alexander Björklund) deserves a proper introduction. Billed as manager/producer Ash Pournouri's "second baby" (the first being 24-year-old EDM superstar Avicii), the duo quickly graduated from bootleg remixes (including well-received takes on Swedish House Mafia's "Save the World" and Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain") to original tracks and big-budget videos—some of which simultaneously elevate and spoof the hype that fuels dance culture. Below, a crash course in Cazzette, who come to town courtesy of The World Is Mine Inc., Maxd Out and I Am San Antonio. $10-$50 (all ages), 9pm-2am Thursday, Backstage Live, 1305 E Houston, (210) 229-1988,
