At War with Dust

Kevin Sanchez, nom de plume At War with Dust, will be the September artist of the Liberty Bar's excellent monthly residency series. Most artists this year have had an evolving act for the 7pm slot, varying week-to-week in both lineup and style. For his Tuesday night gigs, Sanchez is taking this performative idea to an exciting conclusion with guest acts each evening.

Helping kick off the September sessions, Sanchez will be joined by SA indie act Fishermen, with whom he has already played with on a Radiohead tribute. Next week, September 9, Sanchez will be joined by marimbist Kelly Merka Nelson and cellist Sean McCrrey. On September 16, Chris Maddin of Filmstrips and Blowing Trees will come in to augment Sanchez's nimble and expressive songbook. On September 23, avant-garde jazz outfit The Whale will back Sanchez in an unusual meeting of singer-songwriter and free jazz. For the final show on September 30, Sanchez will feature a guest yet-to-be-named, though the theme is blues.
