Perhaps SA's most prominent label, Texas Is Funny recently debuted new tunes from Vetter Kids and Ex-Breathers. In late August, Vetter Kids posted the first taste, "Chlorine Dream," from their forthcoming Logan EP. For the second single, "Down Goes the Teenage Hoodlum," the SA/ATX trio eases up slightly, reminding us of the frenzied energy of pop-punk done right.

“We love to be the loudest and bang on things and hurt ourselves, but that’s just one part of it," guitarist Marcos Gossi told the Current early this summer. In five minutes, Vetter Kids explores a wide spectrum of style and emotion, from soft and spare to explosive and oozing positive energy, ending in the distortion-driven mantra: "don't back down." You can expect Logan to hit shelves on October 14.

Ex-Breathers

With the 2014 signing of Ex-Breathers, the Tallahassee trio has helped round out Texas Is Funny's punk aesthetic with a searing hardcore approach. "Flowers," the third offering from the forthcoming, 12-track tape EXBX, clocks in just under a minute, driven forward in an abrupt, Morris-ian airing of grievances, wanting "just a little more." EXBX will be available on cassette in the second week of October.
