Opera San Antonio Casting Call for Strauss' 'Salome'

Posted By on Fri, Oct 31, 2014 at 2:16 PM

An epic of literally biblical proportions, Salome is the story of the eponymous seductive princess who dances the dance of the seven veils for her stepfather Herod, king of Judea for the reward of John the Baptist's newly beheaded cranium on a silver platter. Based on the tragic French play by Oscar Wilde and masterfully orchestrated by German composer Richard Strauss, the riveting Salome will leave culture connoisseurs begging to be entranced by the dance of the seven veils once more.

After the success of the family friendly Fantastic Mr. Fox, Opera San Antonio’s first fully staged production of Strauss’ Salome is auditioning for three to four party guest of both sexes, and one colossal, brawny man for the role of a lifetime, the executioner of the prophet John the Baptist. Those interested in applying for roles in Salome need to send a full body shot and resume to Acting and musical experience is a bonus. Rehearsals start December 18, 2014 at the Carlos Alvarez Theatre.

The full length performances at the HEB Performance Hall at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts will take place on 8 and 11.
