Piñata Protest Takes Over NPR's Alt.Latino

Piñata Protest commandeered NPR's Alt.Latino feature today, breaking down the influences that created the San Anto quartet (hint: half punk, half tejano/ranchera, 100 percent San Antonio). Hosted by Jasmine Garsd and Felix Contreras, the recurring program takes a listen to the Chicano borders of American music, where Afro-Caribbean and Latin American styles mesh beautifully with the anglo feel.

For this episode, Alt.Latino golden children Piñata Protest explain how their upbeat Tex-Mex punk came to be. Without a surprise, it involves a little Flaco, a little Ranchera, a hit of Nirvana and an ear on the ground for real-deal music.
