Janet Jackson Is Coming to San Antonio...Hopefully

So, Janet Jackson is coming back to San Antonio, y’all. But should we hold our breath?

This whole situation feels vaguely familiar to the Morrissey fiasco we dealt with recently: A show is announced, we all get hyped up, then the artist cancels and promises they’ll be back. Then, said artist announces another show, we get excited again, and eventually that excitement is met with yet another cancellation.

We’ve watched this happen for almost two years with Janet (Miss Jackson if you’re nasty) when she announced in July of 2015 that she’d be heading to Alamo City on her Unbreakable world tour, which was followed by two postponements.

Yesterday, The Velvet Rope superstar had a few major announcements for fans: that she recently had a baby, separated from her husband Wissam Al Mana, and the tour is back on, only now, under a different name. On Sept. 13, Jackson is scheduled to perform at The AT&T Center for the newly renamed State of The World Tour, which she says is “not about politics, it’s about people, the world relationships, and just love."

Look, we all know Janet Jackson is legendary and who hasn't danced to "Rhythm Nation" or "Go Deep"? But listen San Antonio, given Jackson's track record, let’s not get our hopes up too high.

Tickets held for previous Unbreakable tour events that are now re-scheduled will be honored at the new dates. Tickets for September 13 show at the AT&T Center go on sale Friday, May 5.
