Long before the days of touring with huge names like Morrissey, Social Distortion and Tegan and Sara, Girl In A Coma was just three women from San Antonio eager to do what most bands want when they first start out: to make a living playing music.

While that goal was eventually met, the road of rock-n-roll hasn't exactly been an easy one. Drummer Phanie Diaz told us that on one of their first tours, the band got stuck in San Francisco and had to panhandle to get home. "We left with $500 and we ran out of money...and back then gas was like, a dollar."

But clearly that drive to succeed paid off, leading to GIAC's deal with Joan Jett's Blackheart records, the release of four albums and eventually successful side projects, like Phanie Diaz and bassist Jen Alva's riot grrrl group Fea and Nina Diazs's delightfully poppy solo project.

To celebrate how far they've come, GIAC is playing a throwback show to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the album that pushed them into the national spotlight, playing a string of Texas dates where they'll perform Both Before I'm Gone in its entirety. Here are those dates:
