Much like how hip-hop shows are a regular occurrence at Paper Tiger, the hardcore community has made a home in the venue, especially back in its White Rabbit glory days. From bands like Dillinger Escape Plan who rolled through at the end of year or Christian-hardcore dudes For Today who made their way to town with metalcore giants Norma Jean and Silent Planet earlier this year, Paper Tiger is definitely a hub for all the subgenres that fall under metal and hardcore.

With All Sincerity — whose 2003 album The Age Where Nothing Fits came out in metalcore’s peak season — were an indestructible force in San Antonio. And for good reason. With back-of-the-throat screams that soared over dissonant guitar breaks in the vein of bands like the aforementioned Norma Jean and From Autumn to Ashes, the band is a true collage of chaotic hardcore punk and death metal known for packing the back room at The White Rabbit full of kids thrashing in moshpits. The band took a bit of a hiatus in 2006 as band members began to focus on careers outside of music, but played a reunion show back in 2014 at Hi-Tones. With circling rumors about a possible full-fledged comeback guitarist confirmed to the Current that they’re back with a new lineup, new music and a hopeful EP release by spring of 2018.

Also on the bill is straight-forward hardcore act Deadweight, posi-hardcore group FTP and Executioner, who combine thrash metal with old school hardcore vocals for a sound similar to bands like Walls of Jericho and Figure Four. For a an opportunity to relive an era where the White Rabbit covered all things metal and hardcore, don’t miss out a chance to do it the holiest of grounds for the genre.
