As we previously reported, Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) has chosen the material for the next installment of its excellent Classic Albums Live series, which has thus far featured Radiohead’s OK Computer, The Beatles’ Abbey Road, and Prince’s Purple Rain.

Next up for the series, which pairs the best young classical musicians in the area with what has been a diverse array of talent from the local, non-classical music scene, is The Eagles' 1976 behemoth Hotel California, one of the most beloved and best-selling albums of all time.

Now, this is where you come in. For past concerts in the series, YOSA director Troy Peters has quietly assembled a cast of local talent based on his knowledge of the local music scene and his estimations on which artists would fit the material at hand best.

However, Peters and company are looking to mix things up a bit for Hotel California. To that end, YOSA has issued an open call for submissions for any solo vocalists and/or bands that feel they are up to the challenge of giving this landmark album the classical treatment.

Submissions must be from residents within Bexar County and sent in, per the specifications found here, by December 15.

Peters told the Current that he has "been very happy with the variety of compelling guest artists YOSA has booked for [its] previous [Classic Albums Live] shows." Nevertheless, he knows "there are tons of bands and singers in San Antonio [that he] just [hasn't] had the chance to hear."

Eager for new talent to grace the Tobin Center stage, Peters said he "figured the best way to broaden [his] exposure to musicians who might be a great fit for one of [the YOSA] shows would be to just invite people to send songs."

So, San Antonio music scene: here's your chance to put your money where your mouth is. If you don't submit, you'll be hereby forbidden to complain about not being a part of these swell shows.
