Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals, one of the projects led by Pantera's former frontman, has postponed its spring tour, including a previously announced June 15 date at San Antonio's RockBox.

Anselmo, plagued by back problems from an old stage injury, issued a statement saying he's rescheduling his band's tour with Australian grindcore head cases King Parrot until August-September to recover from surgery he had earlier this year. The band hasn't yet announced new dates.

"I'm having an incredible recovery, but just want to be one thousand percent when I get to jam the new Illegals with all my brothers and sisters," said Anselmo, who also fronts Superjoint and Down, and organized the House Core Horror Film Festival with San Antonio author Corey Mitchell (R.I.P.).

Anselmo & the Illegals' second album, Choosing Mental Illness as a Virtue, dropped in January.

Presumably, Anselmo will keep his word on the fall dates. After decades of spewing sparks on the road, we're guessing he's made of tougher stuff than professional moper Morrissey, who racked up three health-related cancellations last year.
