For a critically appreciated, lifetime practitioner of folk music, Maria Muldaur is criminally under-recognized by the general music-listening public. But, then, what the hell does the general music-listening public know about good folk music anyhow?

Muldaur, who came up in the folk music boom of the 1960s, when folk was a big deal with all the hip kids, had a big hit in the early 1970s with the folk-pop jangle “Midnight at the Oasis,” but she is so much more than that. She has played in a number of bands, most notably the Jerry Garcia Band, recorded and performed as a part of a few duos, and released more than 30 solo albums, all in the folk, folk-pop, folk-rock, blues and retro-country wheelhouse. She’s basically never stopped being a master of her craft, recording and touring relentlessly. And you have a chance this weekend to experience the fruits of this long labor of love.

$20-$60, Sun July 29, 7pm, Sam’s Burger Joint, 330 E. Grayson St., (210) 223-2830, samsburgerjoint.com.
