This past Sunday, Day For Night Festival cut its ties with founder Omar Afra after surfacing sexual misconduct allegations.

“The creditors of Day For Night were shocked and saddened to hear of the allegations of sexual misconduct against Day For Night founder, Omar Afra,” D4N posted on their Facebook page. “We stand with all victims of abuse.”

However, in a Facebook post Sunday, Afra said he would fight the allegations:
“In the best interest of Day for Night and Free Press and their respective stakeholders, I will be stepping down from my positions there. But I have no choice but to fight back against allegations that are patently false. It would do no justice to anyone for me to capitulate to lies and fabrications.”

Amanda Hart, who worked with Afra at Free Press Houston, Summer Fest and Day For Night, brought these allegations to light through a post on her Facebook, including several screenshots of text messages, which were allegedly exchanged between Afra and and a woman who says Afra assaulted her years earlier.

“I have personally seen him cultivate a toxic work environment where people are manipulated, mistreated and abused emotionally,” Hart wrote.

The Festival, which in the past has brought in artists such as Aphex Twin, Nine Inch Nails, Cardi B, and Pussy Riot, said that they’d be holding off on any announcements related to D4N out of respect for the alleged victims.

“Out of respect for these alleged victims, any announcement about the future of Day For Night will be made at a later date.”
