The Zombies, whose baroque take on psychedelia made them one of the most distinctive bands of the British invasion, will play San Antonio in February.

Recognizable for Colin Blunstone's breathy vocals and Rod Argent's eerie minor-key keyboard work, the band boasted a strong singles game with "Time of the Season," "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No" all becoming oldies-radio staples.

But it's the 1968 album Odessey and Oracle that stands as the Zombies' most enduring masterpiece. In the years since its release, the beautiful-yet-trippy long player has earned a critical reputation as the best psych album to come out of England.

After a 30-year hiatus, Blunstone and Argent are at it again. Augmented by a new lineup, they've completed successful tours performing Odessey and Oracle in its entirety and released two albums of new material that update the Zombies' sound while staying true to its distinctive roots.

$35-$38, Thu Feb 28, 8pm, Paper Tiger, 2410 N. St. Mary’s St., papertigersatx.com.
