Editor's Note: This event has been postponed until Sunday, Nov. 18, and relocated to the Rock Box, 1223 E. Houston St., due to inclement weather.

The High Voltage Music Program — S.A.'s homegrown, nonprofit equivalent to the School of Rock — will turn the mic over to teens for a free festival on Saturday highlighting young performers, artists and crafters.

The Teens on a Mission showcase will raise money for High Voltage, a free Idea South Flores after-school program that lets young rockers learn from old pros like singer-songwriter Harvey Mclaughlin and odie, Buttercup's long-running bassist. The program also holds periodic workshops open to teens community-wide.

High Voltage students will perform throughout the day and the show's co-headliners take stage at dusk. One of those, Z-Pocalypse, is a hard rock band comprised of High Voltage students. The other, Tiarra Girls, is an Austin-based teen trio whose new EP was produced by award-winning Austin producer AJ Vallejo.

Black Molly, an outfit made up of S.A. metal and hard rock scene veterans, will close out the night.

In addition to the music, Teens on a Mission will feature work by young artists and craft vendors plus screenings of student short films. Expect the usual array of food and community-outreach booths too.

Free, Sat Oct. 20, 3-10 pm, Mission Marquee Plaza, 3100 Roosevelt Ave, (210) 643-6240, highvoltagemusic.org.
