I don’t know what the hell’s in the water in Minnesota, which has continuously birthed dope indie rappers. Seriously — like, Sims and Dessa from Doomtree, or Astronautalis, Brother Ali and then the legendary Slug from Atmosphere. Rhymesayers, the heavyweight indie rap label that houses the likes of Aesop Rock and Blueprint, is also based out of Minnesota, so they’re doing something right.

Formed in the late '80s, Atmosphere has continuously served us super juicy hip-hop whose flavor has never run dry. In the age of mumble rap and dabbing, rapper Slug and producer/DJ Ant echo the roots of true hip-hop through every release of a new album, like their latest effort Mi Vida Local released earlier this month.

The iconic indie rap heavyweights return to San Antonio in 2019 for a show at The Aztec Theatre with Rhymesayers youngster Dem Atalas.

$25-$35, Sat Jan. 26, 8pm, Aztec Theatre, 104 N. St. Mary’s St.,
