The Midnight Hour — consisting of A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge, who’s produced for the likes of Jay-Z, Wu-Tang Clan and Common — is arguably one of the most ferocious duos active right now. And their genius goes beyond the numerous genres they tiptoe through with their music — jazz, soul, bebop and R&B. There’s a magical dynamic they pull out of the air with their songwriting that makes them one of the most talked-about live performers of the year.

Just listen to “It’s You,” a tumbling off-and-on-the-beat song with rhythms that seem to fold into themselves, and you’ll understand this is a show you really don’t want to miss.

$25, Sun Dec. 9, 7pm, Paper Tiger, 2410 N. St. Mary’s St., papertigersatx.com.
